Hello world!

Welcome to my blog!

I am new at this and trying to figure out the program.  Since I reached the milestone of 60 years on this planet I thought I would hop on my bike and do a tour. Maybe I should have called this “Bob’s Vision Quest”  or “In search of lost youth”. I thought this would be a great way to keep my friends and family plugged into my wanderings. I hope you will come along on my travels. I will do my best to make it interesting and to keep the rubber side down. Please feel free to say hi from time to time to let me know you are out there. I hope you enjoy reading what I post.

Warmest Regards

Bob

Oh, dear! I thought you were going on a pedal bike!! I will direct my “resident expert” to your site and get his advice.

  2. Bob it is Layton from Kelowna… last spring Myrna and I were to attend an Oddessy meeting in Scottsdale and I arranged to be there as I started my 60 celebration with a plan to ride all the southern states and write humours travel stories for Mojo Magazine.
I have ridden most the western states and the eastern coast of Mexico and loved it. I just go with the flow meeting great folks along the way. I bought a brand new bike and set out meeting a fellow rider from Washington on the third day. We had lunch then he decided to follow me into Vegas and I don’t really know what happened but I awoke a couple of days later in Reno with a broken neck, broken shoulder blade, pulverized collar bone, broken upper arm ball and socket and two punctures in my lung. They had to plate all my left ribs with titanium as they were to crushed. After 19 days in the Reno trauma unit (and a half million dollars) I was flown back to BC for another three weeks in ICU.
After 45 years of riding this brought my biking to an end but I would probably do it all again. See Backroadscholar.com and I know this was a one in a million change accident but make sure you have insurance and then enjoy, have fun but stay in the present and you will not regret the experience. I don’t regret going and I know you will have much less stress.

Thanks Layton – Now that you have reaffirmed all of my wife’s worst fears I may find 2 flat tires and sugar in the tank. I am glad to see you are on the mend and appreciate your expert advice on how to enjoy the open road.

Pat…I suggest mixing the sugar with turpentine…that will really do it!!!!! Shiny side up Bob….not the new tires!!!!!!!! Have a good trip and will watch you along the way!!!! Cheers Graham
